In 2004, both Lamb of God and Mastodon made their phenomenal breakthrough with their career-defining albums. Lamb of God dropped their major label debut, Ashes of the Wake, while Mastodon released their sophomore effort, Leviathan, which eventually became a cult favorite. Lamb of God, fresh from signing with Epic Records, dropped the iconic head-slinging staple, “Laid to Rest,” and groove metal anthem, “Now You’ve Got Something to Die For.” Ashes of the Wake eventually sold over 500,000 copies, making it the band’s best-selling effort of their career. After the phenomenal success of Ashes of the Wake, Lamb of God rose to incredible stardom, releasing groundbreaking albums that all entered Billboard 200’s Top 20. Their 2009 effort, Wrath, in particular, peaked at number one on the chart and topped the three other major charts.
Mastodon dropped Leviathan as a concept album. The effort was met with wide critical acclaim and was branded as the record of the year by prestigious music magazines such as Terrorizer and Kerrang! The album spawned several outstanding singles, “Iron Tusk,” “Naked Burn,” and “Blood and Thunder.” To promote the record, the band went on a major tour with Lamb of God, as well as other big-name outfits. The album was the band’s first entry into the Billboard 200, as well as the Heatseekers and Independent Albums chart.
This coveted tour brings along special guests Kerry King and Malevolence as special guests. Kerry King is embarking on his first major solo tour to promote his debut solo album, From Hell I Rise. The legendary guitarist made waves as a founding member of thrash metal giant Slayer. Now, he continues his legacy as a solo artist backed by a fantastic band.
Hailing from England, Malevolence will bring their brand of metalcore to American audiences. The Sheffield natives are set to cover their career-spanning hits, including songs from their latest album, Malicious Intent.
